Beginning this summer with the School of Medicine’s Pre-matriculation students, the SoM will be making the move to bring your own device (BYOD) testing for incoming first year medical students. The introduction of BYOD testing allows the School of Medicine greater flexibility in where exams are given. Instead of being confined to the Testing Center, they will be able to test in the large classrooms in the HEB. While for the immediate future Testing Services will schedule computer labs as backups in case of major exam issues, once the initial implementation period has passed, the move to BYOD will free up lab space and give Testing Services some much needed flexibility in their scheduling. Additionally, the development of BYOD testing will allow greater ease in the use of alternate sites for distance learning students.
