How to Download/Save Camtasia Relay Videos

We have had many requests to save videos that were captured using Camtasia Relay. As you may recall, when a recording has been processed by the server and ready to stream, you receive an email with the link to the recording. Most faculty/staff share this link in their Blackboard/Jaydoc course or distribute the link through email. If you need a digital copy to save, here is the process to do this.

Note: Does not work in IE. You will need Firefox, Chrome, or Safari.

Let's take the following example of an email received from Camtasia Relay:

If your Type (B) is "MP4 with Smart Player":

  1. Click on the Presentation Link (A) - (it should open in a new browser window) -or- copy and paste url into Firefox, Chrome, or Safari.
  2. Modify the URL's ending by removing ".html" and adding "/media/video.mp4" and then hit enter.
  3. Right-click on video in browser and select:
    1. "Save Video As" in Firefox or Chrome
    2. "Download Video" in Safari
  4. Navigate to your "Downloads" folder and you will find your video file named "video.mp4"

If your Type (B) is "Windows Media" "MP4" "MP3" or "IPad"

  1. Click on the Presentation Link (A) - (it should open in a new browser window) -or- copy and paste url into Firefox, Chrome, or Safari.
  2. Right-click on video in browser and select:
    1. "Save Video As" in Firefox or Chrome
    2. "Download Video" in Safari
  3. Navigate to your "Downloads" folder and you will find your video file with a name similar to the title of the presentation.
If the above process does not work, contact TLT for further assistance. (913) 588-7107 or tlt@kumc.edu.
